let's say you were on a party or something, and you lost your mobile … - you know how to find it ?

NOTE : this wiki was created, while my mobile was lost, and i thought, just to note all the steps it will take me to find it.
the first and best thing of course would be to call it.
either you hear it ringing right away → [YOU FOUND IT !!!]
or some other person does, and luckily answers → [YOU FOUND IT !!!]
or nobody answers, which couldn't be so bad either.
sit down, take a quiet minute. don't panic. take a clear thought, where you saw or heard it the last time and who might be also there.
start searching systimaticly, and when you're only messy → [YOU FOUND IT !!!]
ask your friends - maybe one of them just took it accidentially, 'cause he(she) was as wasted as you, or he(she) was so nice to take it for you, and just didn't call you back, because they are asleep or at work, so → [YOU FOUND IT !!!]
visit all the places you remeber you were visiting, look and ask ask around, when you have karma → [YOU FOUND IT !!!]
if you did't find it, call or visit the people who where also there and talk to them. most of the time it's better to talk to someone in person, and you will be able to reconstruct more things, than over phone. and when you have nice friends with eagle's eyes → [YOU FOUND IT !!!]
email to everyone who could know someone, you couldn't get the number from or just couldn't get to, with some luck → [YOU FOUND IT !!!]
time to call it again, maybe → [YOU FOUND IT !!!]
try to find out the people who organised the event if you were at one, perhaps → [YOU FOUND IT !!!]
you can believe in the goodness and honesty of mandkind, and go to a public lost & found. when someone left it there → [YOU FOUND IT !!!]
use the internet, forums and what not. if you are a geek → [YOU FOUND IT !!!]
ok, no luck, no karma, no friends with eagle's eyes, and no other nice people, time to get some proffessionals to help you.
call your provider to lock your simcard (some providers can also lock phones[IMEI])

try to get your the last posiiton of your mobile.
ask if someone of your friends works at a provider, or search the nearest hackerspace, and ask them for help. you can also try asking your provider directly. with some luck your mobile is still on, or at the place it was last booked in, and → [YOU FOUND IT !!!]
or perhaps the last position will give you the final hint, so → [YOU FOUND IT !!!]
you could also try to find a frind, which mobile supports some technical neat stuff. some phones are able to display the tracking accuracy of the gsm (not gps!!). if you use gps, to go to the point the provider/friend gave you, and then try to match this point with the gms tracking accuracy display, there might be a chance that → [YOU FOUND IT !!!]
ok. - you didn't find it by now.
you can call it one more time yourself and pray → [YOU FOUND IT !!!]
you can call the lost&found again, could be → [YOU FOUND IT !!!]
no success ? don't dispair ! let's see how far down the rabbithole goes ;)
try finding out your IMEI and the TAC within.
most of the time it is printed on the box the mobil came with…
the lock your IMEI (you can do this at your provider), so noone can use the phone in your country anymore …
after you locked it, try the lost&found again later, perhaps they gave it away.
if this all didn't help you you may consider, that you lost your phone. which doesn#ät mean you have to stop believing in fate …
